I had a domestic situation

I arrived at Adelaide House through a domestic situation. The only way i could describe my life was distressed. I was killing myself physically, mentally and my whole life was falling apart. I remember saying to a man 'Pat - Adelaide'! When contact was made with Pat (The manager) at Adelaide House, she agreed that i could stay, initially in the emergency domestic violence bed and then on the outreach project. When i arrived, 2 members of staff were on the night shift and between them, they sat and spoke to me for hours. I immediately felt safe. I was so messed up and wasn't making sense but they reassured me that i would be ok. After a few hours, i was shown to my room, and for the first time in years i thought: 'I know i can get myself up from the depth of depair'. I had been an alcoholic, drinking myself to death. On my first day a member of staff took me to the doctors, who sorted out medication and arranged an appointment with the alcohol dependency team.

The support and guidance that i got, and still get is unbelievable. Since 17th September 2014, my life turned around, and i love it.
